Mental Math World Cup 2023: A Global Showcase of Mental Math Mastery

Welcome to the official blog of the Mental Math World Cup 2023, the exciting competition organized by Live Math Competitions and League that brought together the world’s top mental math talents. Building on the success of the Mental Math Asia Cup 2021 and Mental Math World Cup 2022 Live Math Competitions and League decided to take mental math competitions to the next level by organizing this larger-scale event.

With the help of an innovative app-based platform, Live Math Competitions and League successfully united nearly 7,100 participants from 54 different countries, each with their unique mental math techniques, including Abacus/Soroban, Vedic Math, and traditional arithmetic. We are thrilled to share the results, analytics, and highlights of this amazing event with you through this blog.

Categories and Participation Numbers in Mental Math World Cup 2023: Growing Passion for Arithmetic Contests in the World

Mental Math World Cup 2023 had four Age Categories:

Challenger (6-8 years),

Master (9-11 years),

Grandmaster (12-15 years), and

Grandmaster Open (16 years and above).

Close 7100 participants competed to become the Mental Math World Cup Super Toppers, indicating a growing enthusiasm and dedication towards Mental Math competitions.

Overview of the Rounds in Mental Math World Cup 2023

The Mental Math World Cup 2023 consisted of two rounds: the Elimination Rounds, which took place in July 2023, and the Grand Finale, held in August 2023.

Recognizing Mental Math Excellence: Prizes and Awards for Winners of the Mental Math World Cup 2023

Exceptional rewards and accolades awaited the outstanding participants of the Mental Math World Cup 2023, encompassing enticing cash prizes, coveted medals, and well-deserved certificates. Distinguished World Super Toppers were not only honoured with cash prizes but also adorned with gleaming medals and prestigious certificates. On the other hand, Country Toppers were celebrated with distinctive medals and certificates, while School Toppers received commendable certificates of achievement. Special recognition in the form of a unique “Bullseye” medal was exclusively reserved for those remarkable Finalists achieving a Perfect Grand Finale Score.

This comprehensive prize structure added an extra layer of prestige to the achievements of the participants, ensuring that each accolade was a testament to their exceptional mental math prowess.

Preparing for Mental Math Excellence: Guest Trainers and Speakers at the Mental Math World Cup 2023

All participants were enthusiastic and prepared well by joining webinars and mock events. They showed their dedication and skill during the Elimination Rounds, where they tried their best to qualify for the Grand Finale.

Before the final showdown, participants had the opportunity to learn from some of the best in the field through four amazing webinars by renowned guest trainers and speakers.

Mr. Minoo Jokhi, the Mathemagician and Trainer, shared his mental math tips and tricks with all participants in the Challenger category.

Mrs. Vrushali Joshi, a highly regarded Vedic Math tutor and director at Eduarty School of Excellence, conducted enlightening and informative sessions on Vedic Math Tips and Tricks for the Master, Grandmaster, and Grandmaster/Open categories.

Mr. Sumit Arora Co-Founder of Novo Leader took two webinars on Digital vs Real. The webinar served as a proactive step towards addressing the challenges associated with excessive digital device usage among children. By disseminating information, raising awareness, and offering practical solutions, the aim was to empower both parents and children to make informed decisions that contribute to a healthier and more balanced lifestyle.

Ms. Natasha Davesar, as the Co-Founder of Novo Leaders, conducted two insightful sessions on “Family Budgeting.” The webinars played a vital role in addressing financial challenges within families, providing age-appropriate education, and empowering parents to instill financial responsibility in their children. The emphasis on engagement and practical application indicated a holistic approach towards creating a financially literate and responsible generation.

Mr Daniel Timms is a renowned Mental Math expert and coach, specializing in practical Mental Math and the Psychology of Calculations. Mr Timms conducted an interactive and knowledgeable webinar and introduced our participants to Mental Maths & it’s Psychology.

Round 1 (Elimination Round) of Mental Math World Cup 2023: Testing Speed and Accuracy

Our contestants were equipped with mental math tips and tricks from expert guest trainers and speakers before they entered the elimination rounds.

In this round, participants were tested on their speed and accuracy in solving unlimited arithmetic problems within a limited time. The total score from three rounds determined their qualification for the Grand Finale.

A total of 2817 Finalists, comprising around 39% of the total participants of Mental Math World Cup 2023, emerged as the crème de la crème from 51 countries spanning 17 diverse time zones. These outstanding individuals, representing the pinnacle of talent from each age category, progressed to the Grand Finale. Here, they engaged in a spirited battle for the coveted title of Mental Math World Cup Super Topper within their respective categories. The competition unfolded as an intense showcase of mental math expertise, with participants exhibiting exceptional speed, precision, and unwavering dedication to their Mental Math craft.

Individual Performances

The following Participants from India and UAE have won the top ranks in the Challenger category and the Title of Mental Math World Cup 2023 Super Topper:

  • NAYRA GARG from India International School, Jaipur, India won 1st place in the Challenger category (World Rank 1) and received US $100 and 3 Medals.
  • Shreyansh Maram from Slate-The School, India won 2nd place in the Challenger category (World Rank 2) and received US $75 and 3 medals.
  • Harith Reddy from GEMS Millenium School, UAE won 3rd place in the Challenger category (World Rank 3) and received US $50 and 3 medals.

The following Participants from USA and UAE have won the top ranks in the Master category and the Title of Mental Math World Cup 2023 Super Topper:

  • Ishaan Godbole from Brain 0 Magic, USA achieved World Rank 1 with a Cash Prize of US $100 and received 3 Medals.
  • Vanshika Gellanki from Brain 0 Magic, USA achieved World Rank 2 with a Cash Prize of US $75 and received 3 Medals.
  • Srinikesh Vinod from GEMS Our Own Indian School, UAE achieved World Rank 3 with a Cash Price of US $50 and received 3 Medals.

The following Participants from Pakistan, India and USA have won the top ranks in the GRANDMASTER category and the Title of Mental Math World Cup 2023 Super Topper:

  • Swanand R Bhore from Mansukhbhai Kothari School, India achieved World Rank 1 with a Cash Price of US $100 and received 3 Medals.
  • Muhammad Bin Shifa from Beaconhouse Mt. Boys Campus, Pakistan achieved World Rank 2 with a Cash Price of US $75 and received 3 Medals.
  • Aashish Rajakumar from Brain 0 Magic, USA achieved World Rank 3 with a Cash Price of US $50 and received 2 Medals.

The following Participants from India and Botswana have won the top ranks in the GRANDMASTER OPEN category and the Title of Mental Math World Cup 2023 Super Topper:

  • ASMITA PAL from Vellore Institute of Technology, India was ranked 1st in the world and received US $100 cash prize and won 3 medals.
  • AARAV JAIN from The Shri Ram School, Moulsari, India was ranked 2nd in the world and received US $75 cash prize and won 3 medals.
  • Kanan Chawla from Sri Guru Gobind Singh Sr Sec , India was ranked 3rd in the world and shared US $50 cash prize and won 3 medals.
  • Ikonwa Bright from Charles Dale Memorial International School, Botswana was ranked 3rd in the world and shared US $50 cash prize and won 3 medals.
