This is the official blog for the first “Mental Math Asia Cup 2021”, a thrilling contest by Live Math Competitions and League that gathered the top mental math talents from Asia.

Live Math Competitions and League offered this unique App Based platform that united almost 4000 participants from 18 diverse countries and cultures in Asia, with varying mental math backgrounds. Some utilized Abacus/Soroban Techniques, others employed Vedic Math Methodology, while others relied on simple school arithmetic techniques.

We will share the results, analytics, and highlights of the competition in the blog.

Categories and Participation Numbers in Mental Math Asia Cup 2021: Growing Passion for Arithmetic Contests in Asia

Asia Cup 2021 had four Age Categories:

Challenger (6-8 years),

Master (9-11 years),

Grandmaster (12-15 years), and

Grandmaster Open (16 years and above).

Each group had more than 1000 participants vying to be the Mental Math Asia Cup champion. This shows the growing interest and passion towards arithmetic contests in Asia.

Overview of the Rounds in Mental Math Asia Cup 2021

The contest had two rounds: Elimination Rounds from 6th to 8th August 2021 and Grand Finale on 10 and 11 September 2021.

Award and Recognition for Winners of Mental Math Asia Cup 2021

The winners of the “Mental Math Asia Cup 2021” received exciting rewards and recognition, such as cash prizes for World Super Toppers and Country Toppers, certificates for Super Topper, Country Topper, School Topper and Participation certificates for all.

Webinars and Guest Speakers: Preparing Participants for the Mental Math Asia Cup 2021

All participants were enthusiastic and prepared well by joining webinars and mock events. They showed their dedication and skill during the Elimination Rounds, where they tried their best to qualify for the Grand Finale.

Before the big showdown, our participants got to learn from the best in four amazing webinars by four renowned Guest Trainers and Speakers:

Mr. Minoo Jokhi, the Mathemagician and Trainer, revealed his Mental Math Tips and Tricks to all participants of Challenger, Master, Grandmaster, and Open categories. Participants were spellbound by his sessions.

Mr. Sumit Arora, Founder of Novo Leaders, took two webinars on Money Matters, showing our young participants how to manage their needs and wants, budgeting, and investing. Participants learned valuable lessons from both these interactive webinars.

Mrs. Vindya Ballal of Brain Gym introduced participants to Simple Brain Boosting Exercises to awaken the Brain for Learning Readiness.

Mrs. Hamsaz Wadhwani, Founder and CEO of The 7th Fold, shared valuable tips on “Managing Stress and Anxiety in Daily Life”, which was a boon for participants.

Mr. Praveen Wadhwani from The 7th Fold was gracious enough to be the Emcee for all these webinars.

Elimination Rounds of Mental Math Asia Cup 2021: Testing Speed and Accuracy

After the webinars, our contestants were pumped up and ready to rock in the elimination rounds. In the Elimination Rounds, participants were tested on their speed and accuracy, with speed being the key factor. Each participant had to attempt three rounds with unlimited sums within a set time, and the total score of these three rounds was their final score.

Based on their total score, about 50% of the top performers from each age group qualified for the Grand Finale, where they would vie for the prestigious title of Mental Math Asia Cup Super Topper in their respective age groups.

The Grand Finale of Mental Math Asia Cup 2021: A Nerve-Wracking On-Camera Live Event for Young Math Enthusiasts

With such encouraging words the Contestants were more than ready to enter the Battle Arena of The Grand Finale of Mental Math Asia Cup 2021

The grand finale was a nerve-wracking On-Camera Live Event. Moderators observed every contestant as they had to solve 100 sums within a fixed time. The difficulty was raised by negative marking and Tricky MCQ options. Such events are beneficial for young students to gain experience and build their character by performing well in such situations.

– Malaysia had a total of 89 finalists, with 18 of them achieving A+ and A grades, which is 20% of their total finalists. 60 of their finalists achieved A+, A, and B+ grades, which represents 67% of their total finalists. Malaysia’s high percentage of A+ and A and A+, A, and B+ Finalists helped them to achieve the top spot in the ranking of the top 6 countries with the most finalists.

– Bangladesh had a total of 76 finalists, with 9 of them achieving A+ and A grades, which is 12% of their total finalists. 46 of their finalists achieved A+, A, and B+ grades, representing 61% of their total finalists.

– Oman had a total of 67 finalists, with 8 of them achieving A+ and A grades, which is 12% of their total finalists. 32 of their finalists achieved A+, A, and B+ grades, representing 48% of their total finalists.

– India had a total of 1221 finalists, with 95 of them achieving A+ and A grades, which is 8% of their total finalists. 568 of their finalists earned A+, A, and B+ grades, representing 47% of their total finalists.

– UAE had a total of 371 finalists, with 25 of them achieving A+ and A grades, which is 7% of their total finalists. 156 of their finalists achieved A+, A, and B+ grades, representing 42% of their total finalists.

– Sri Lanka had a total of 73 finalists, with 2 of them achieving A+ and A students, which is 3% of their total finalists. However, they had a higher percentage of A+, A, and B+ grades with 39 of their finalists being in this category, representing 53% of their total finalists.
