Welcome to the official blog of the Mental Math World Cup 2022, the exciting competition organized by Live Math Competitions and League that brought together the world’s top mental math talents. Building on the success of the Mental Math Asia Cup 2021, Live Math Competitions and League decided to take mental math competitions to the next level by organizing this larger-scale event.

With the help of an innovative app-based platform, Live Math Competitions and League successfully united nearly 5,500 participants from 48 different countries, each with their unique mental math techniques, including Abacus/Soroban, Vedic Math, and traditional arithmetic. We are thrilled to share the results, analytics, and highlights of this amazing event with you through this blog.

Categories and Participation Numbers in Mental Math World Cup 2022: Growing Passion for Arithmetic Contests in the World

Mental Math World Cup 2022 had four Age Categories:

Challenger (6-8 years),

Master (9-11 years),

Grandmaster (12-15 years), and

Grandmaster Open (16 years and above).

In each category, over 1000 participants competed to become the Mental Math World Cup Super Toppers, indicating a growing enthusiasm and dedication towards arithmetic competitions..

Overview of the Rounds in Mental Math World Cup 2022

The Mental Math World Cup 2022 consisted of two rounds: the Elimination Rounds, which took place from 1st June to 8th June 2022, and the Grand Finale, held between 16th to 24th July 2022.

Recognizing Mental Math Excellence: Prizes and Awards for Winners of the Mental Math World Cup 2022

Exciting rewards and recognition were presented to the participants of the Mental Math World Cup 2022, which included cash prizes and medals. Participants with a Perfect Grand Finale Score received a special “Bullseye” medal, while Super Topper, Country Topper, and School Topper certificates were also presented. Furthermore, all participants were awarded a certificate of participation.

Preparing for Mental Math Excellence: Guest Trainers and Speakers at the Mental Math World Cup 2022

All participants were enthusiastic and prepared well by joining webinars and mock events. They showed their dedication and skill during the Elimination Rounds, where they tried their best to qualify for the Grand Finale.

Before the final showdown, participants had the opportunity to learn from some of the best in the field through four amazing webinars by renowned guest trainers and speakers.

Mr. Minoo Jokhi, the Mathemagician and Trainer, shared his mental math tips and tricks with all participants in the Challenger category.

Mrs. Vrushali Joshi, a highly regarded Vedic Math tutor and director at Eduarty School of Excellence, conducted enlightening and informative sessions on Vedic Math Tips and Tricks for the Master, Grandmaster, and Grandmaster/Open categories.

Mrs. Vindya Ballal of Brain Gym introduced participants to simple brain-boosting exercises to awaken the brain for learning readiness.

Mrs. Hamsaz Wadhwani, Founder and CEO of The 7th Fold, delivered a highly insightful session on “The Art of Regulating Your Emotions,” which proved to be an invaluable resource for all participants.

Live Math Competitions and League extends its gratitude to Mr. Minoo Jokhi, Mrs. Vrushali Joshi, Mrs. Vindya Ballal, and Mrs. Hamsaz Wadhwani for their priceless contributions to the Mental Math World Cup 2022.

Round 1 (Elimination Round) of Mental Math World Cup 2022: Testing Speed and Accuracy

Our contestants were equipped with mental math tips and tricks from expert guest trainers and speakers before they entered the elimination rounds.

In this round, participants were tested on their speed and accuracy in solving unlimited arithmetic problems within a limited time. The total score from three rounds determined their qualification for the Grand Finale.

Approximately 37% of the top performers from each age Category advanced to the Grand Finale, where they competed for the prestigious title of Mental Math World Cup Super Topper in their respective categories. The competition was fierce, and the contestants put on an impressive display of mental math skills, demonstrating their speed, accuracy, and dedication to the craft.

The Grand Finale of Mental Math World Cup 2022: A Nerve-Wracking On-Camera Live Event for Young Math Enthusiasts

The contestants entered the battle arena of the Mental Math World Cup 2022 Grand Finale with great confidence. The high-stakes, on-camera live event was nerve-wracking, as moderators observed every move the contestants made while they attempted to solve 100 sums within a fixed time. The difficulty level was raised by negative marking and tricky multiple-choice options, making the competition more challenging.

Participating in such events can be beneficial for young students, as they gain experience and build their character by performing well in these situations. The Mental Math World Cup 2022 Grand Finale was no exception, as the contestants showcased their mental agility, problem-solving skills, and resilience in the face of a daunting challenge.

– Saudi Arabia and Romania hold the top positions with impressive weighted average scores, followed closely by Malaysia, India, and Thailand. These countries have also maintained high percentages of A+ and A Finalists and A+, A, and B+ Finalists.

– UAE, Bangladesh, and Qatar have also shown strong performances with a high percentage of A+, A, and B+ Finalists. Bahrain, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, and Ghana have also put forth some remarkable performances.

– Among the remaining 28 Finalist Countries, there were some more notable performances. For example, Nigeria and South Africa had a relatively high percentage of A+ and A grades (29% and 33%, respectively) and also had a high percentage of A+, A, and B+ grades (71% and 83%, respectively).

– The Philippines had the highest percentage of A+ and A grades among all countries on the list (100%), and Vietnam and Indonesia also had relatively high percentages (50%). Cambodia had a 100% A+ and A Finalists and A+ and A & B+ Finalists.

Overall, these countries have shown great potential in Mental Math, and their continued efforts and investments are sure to yield even better results in the future.

Individual Performances

Challenger category

The following Participants from India and Pakistan have won the top ranks in the Challenger category and the Title of Mental Math World Cup Super Topper in the Challenger Category:

Pakistan:

SANIYA SYED from Beaconhouse Educational Complex won 1st place in the Challenger category (World Rank 1) and received US $100 (Shared with Nayra Garg) and 3 medals.

India:

NAYRA GARG from India International School, Jaipur won 1st place in the Challenger category (World Rank 1) and received US $100 (Shared with Saniya Syed) and 3 medals.

RISHI PANDEY from Universal Public School won 2nd place in the Challenger category (World Rank 2) and received US $75 and 3 medals.

SUVIGYA TANDON from St. Columbas School, New Delhi won 3rd place in the Challenger category (World Rank 3) and received US $50 and 3 medals.

Master category

The following Participants from Malaysia and India have won the top ranks in the Master category and the Title of Mental Math World Cup Super Topper in the Master Category:
